Team Based Project Management (TBPM)

This practical, common sense approach has been developed from many years hard experience of delivering successful projects. Participants on this workshop will learn how to:

• Ensure that projects are selected correctly (there is no right way of doing the wrong thing!)
• Develop effective plans which people understand, believe in and commit to
• Ensure that the project team has the skills, experience and motivation required for success
• Create total clarity about roles and commitments
• Create an environment that allows the team to work well together
• Develop the capability of everyone involved
• Use a range of templates and techniques for keeping administration to a minimum
• Ensure that project learning and experience are shared throughout the organisation and:
• Ensure the project succeeds!

Beginning with putting project management into perspective and understanding the rationale and key principles of the approach, the workshop takes people in a practical way through each of the key stages in the project lifecycle:

Selecting business projects - including confirming that there is a direct and meaningful link between strategy and the projects to be undertaken

Organising for success - to ensure that the correct quantity and quality of resource is employed; mobilizing and building a successful team

Building a project charter - to establish total clarity around the why and what is to be delivered – setting the objectives, milestones, deliverables, scope, success measures and project organisation. Completing a risk analysis and communication plan.

Planning the project in detail - to underpin the milestone plan as appropriate with activity schedules, resource estimates and budgets.

Implementing project activities - delivering the project, supporting individuals and the team, monitoring progress and managing changes.

Conducting a post-completion review - to compare outcomes against plans, learn from the experience and share this knowledge within the business.
